On Wednesday 12 February 2020, we organised a beach cleaning operation in Banyuls-sur-Mer.
Let's mobilise for a cleaner sea!
This will be done in accordance with the European OSPAR protocol, which aims to better quantify and identify the waste found on Europe's beaches. Gloves and bags will be made available to you. An inventory of the waste found on the beach of Banyuls will be carried out.
Rendezvous this Wednesday 12 February 2020 from 10am on the beach of Banyuls in front of the Town Hall to participate in the participative science action, followed by a cleaning of the beach of microplastics still numerous after the recent storms.
At the end of this action, Plastic@Sea will organise a friendship drink.
This action follows several initiatives organised in collaboration with the Banyuls-sur-Mer town hall, the Biodiversarium and researchers from the Observatoire Océanologique de Banyuls-sur-Mer.

This action in collaboration with the town hall of Banyuls sur mer, the Biodiversarium and the researchers of the Oceanological Observatory of Banyuls, was a success with more than 40 volunteers who were able to measure the extent of the plastic pollution following the passage of the storm Gloria. Large quantities of small plastics were recovered by adults and children alike, just a few days after the clean-up of macro-waste by the town's services, illustrating the extent of plastic discharges from the land to the sea.
